This week North Wiltshire RAYNET provided a team of radio operators to support the event team at the South West Schools Cross-County run. Around 300 athletes took part in this half day event.
Several operators were spread around the playing fields using VHF handheld transceivers and a portable control station was set up in the Sheldon School car park. Runner progression data was relayed via the RAYNET control station to the event organisers. One runner suffered minor injuries on the farthest corner of the course and the group coordinated their safe return to the school grounds. Other than that, the event was very successful.
